Modus Group automotive business to leave Belarus market
International company group Modus Group has made a decision to cease its automotive trade business operations in Belarus due to military aggression against Ukraine. In Belarus it represents BMW and MINI brands. Currently Group is closely cooperating with manufacturer BMW AG and looking for the best option to leave the market.
“Belarus’ role in Russia’s war against Ukraine is unjustifiable, its territory is used as a platform for military aggression against Ukrainian people. Therefore, we have decided to leave the country and currently are looking for the way to do it” – Olegas Martyniuk, Modus Group board member responsible for automotive business.
According to him, decision regarding exit from Belarus is being coordinated with the car manufacturer BMW AG – Group is official representative of the manufacturer in the market and has specific contractual obligations.
“We are considering all exit scenarios and are discussing them with our partners. We also feel a responsibility to find a sensible solution in this situation because of 100 employees who work in the market. For now, we will continue operations, but our goal is to leave Belarus and the whole team is working hard to make this happen” – O. Martyniuk.
Modus Group trade of cars, genuine spare parts, bodywork repairs and ongoing technical after-sale service in Belarus comprised 15% of all Group’s automotive business turnover in 2021. There is a 7’000 sq. m. car dealership and showroom in Minsk, where the company sells and services auto brands manufactured by BMW.
Group will further focus on automotive business in the Baltic countries, where it has exclusive distribution rights for 12 brands, including Porsche, Bentley, Aston Martin, Maserati, Fiat, Jeep and others.
